In many instances, as part of the short sale we discover the homeowner may have outstanding Federal or NY State Tax Warrants. Our office works closely with the IRS and NYS to verify such liens. If outstanding amounts are due, we request a tax lien uplift to remove the liens from the property for the purpose of transferring title. This makes it possible to sell the property without having to pay the warrant in full and allows the buyer to obtain clear title at closing.
